Organic Geranium essential oil is steam distilled from the flowers and leaves of Pelargonium spp., which is not quite the same as the perennial garden favorite we all know. Its heavy, sweet aroma induces calm, peaceful and spiritual feelings. The common use of geranium oil is in cosmetics; it presents as a nearly colorless, medium-weight liquid with a greenish tinge. It has a strong middle fragrance note that is very similar to a rose. Geranium essential oil contains several volatile compounds, which is what gives it its distinct fragrance. Egyptian geranium has a very pronounced and sweet rose fragrance that has great staying power when added to perfumes or cosmetics. It is more affordable than geranium oils of Indian origin, and is widely preferred if fragrance is a desirable quality. The aromas are floral, herbaceous and green, the oil itself a pale yellow/green and non-viscous liquid.
